Trentonians FC were a Sunday League Football Club founded in 1988 in memory of a fatally stabbed to death teenager, Trent Whitehouse who was 19. He was killed when a dispute inside the club escalated to outside the old Caversham’s nightclub on November 5th 1988. He was trying to be the peacemaker and cruelly lost his life.

As a tribute to Trent, his best friend Darren Barrett decided to bring an old Youth Sunday league team back together then known as Highdown Boys with Steven Goswell, Adrian Jackson and Deano Jones who eventually became the joint manager with Darren Barrett. The coach for the old youth side, Reg Singleton who was the caretaker at Caversham Park Primary School also joined the management team and home matches were played at the school in the early years.

During that period, Reg Singleton also started a youth team for his 5 year old son who was playing for Caversham Park around 1997, but was unhappy, so he and a friend created “Caversham Trents”. The intention was for this Club to become a feeder Club for the Trentonians FC, but sadly this did not come to fruition, due to the ill health of Reg and Trentonians FC disbanded in 2010. Caversham Trents Football Club however, has gone from strength to strength and continues to grow each season.
